He added that the new Body is a Government’s working body and could transfer to it only own powers.
„The main problem with the decision is that the Provisional Supervisory Body has been entrusted with some tasks for which the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) is already in charge. To be even more absurd, half of the members of that Body are proposed by REM itself,“ Nenadic said.
Commenting on the TS report about the Body not being in line with the Media Law, Serbia’s Parliament Speaker Ivica Dacic said that „the European Parliament proposed it, they should address them.“
According to him, the appointed members of the Council and employees of REM will consult its institution and give opinions on its work.
Recalling that the establishment of that Body was agreed upon at the inter-party dialogue with the European Parliament (EP) facilitation, Nenadic added that a legal basis for its work should have been created to realise that political agreement to follow the regulations.
Nenadic said he believed the part of the rules is unenforceable because the Body should be formed within 15 days, and members of the Body should not be candidates in the elections that have not even been called, and the candidates haven’t been selected.
He also said the Government did not publish the decision, and REM proposed its members two days before the decision came into force.
