United Group said on Wednesday that Dr. Kim Kyllesbech Larsen was appointed the company’s new Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO) as of November 1.
“Dr. Larsen, an accomplished telecom and techno-economic strategist with over 25 years of international leadership experience, brings a wealth of expertise in designing, building, and operating telecom networks worldwide,” a press release said.
It added that Larsen held senior leadership roles at Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile, and Ooredoo Group, where he led large-scale technology transformations, 5G deployments, and innovative network strategies. “He served as CTIO for both T-Mobile Netherlands and Magyar Telekom, leading major infrastructure initiatives, including IT cloudification, network modernization, and the creation of T-Infra BV (now part of Cellnex Netherlands) as Managing Director. Dr. Larsen was also a key member of the leadership team that managed the sale of T-Mobile Netherlands to private equity in 2022,” it said.
“Kim’s deep operational expertise and experience in executing complex technological strategies will be a great asset to United Group,” UG CEO Stan Miller is quoted as saying and added that: “His proven track record in telecom technology and his leadership in driving large-scale transformations will strengthen our capabilities and support the continued success of the company”.
The press release also quoted Larsen as saying he is excited to join United Group. “I look forward to contributing to the company’s efforts to deliver innovative solutions and technologies that continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” he said.
“Dr. Larsen holds a Ph.D. in Physics and an M.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from Aarhus University (Denmark). He has completed more than 50 executive programs in finance, data science, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation at leading institutions, including INSEAD (France), University of Colorado Boulder (USA), and Oxford University (UK). United Group is further strengthening its position as a leader in telecommunications and media services across Southeastern Europe, delivering cutting-edge technologies and high-quality services to millions of customers,” the press release said.
