United Group (UG) has declined to comment on reports regarding the potential sale or acquisition of its assets, according to a response provided to N1, which is owned by the group alongside media outlets Nova, Nova.rs, Danas, and Radar.
“United Group does not comment on market speculation regarding the sale or acquisition of any of its assets. The Group remains focused on enhancing value creation and supporting the running of businesses across the entire portfolio in the best interest of all stakeholders,” United Group said in an official statement.
N1 reached out to United Group following a report by the weekly Vreme that the Portuguese investment group Alpac Capital, which owns the Euronews network, is in negotiations to acquire N1 and other United Group media outlets.
Adria News Network (ANN), within which United Group’s news media, including N1, operate, said that ownership decisions are a matter for the shareholders.
“Adria News Network is focused on protecting editorial integrity across its media through independent Board oversight, defined editorial leadership and strengthened safeguards for newsroom decision-making. The purpose of our governance framework is to build a stable, independent and sustainable news organisation. Questions relating to ownership are a matter for the shareholders,” ANN stated in a written response to N1’s inquiries regarding Vreme’s report.
