Former director N1 television Igor Božić Today, he was removed from work, “Vreme” learns.

It was officially announced to Božić that he was dismissed from the position of director of this television.

Christmas’s current status is “Employed but unassigned”.

The new board of N1 is looking at his previous employment contracts and will consider what kind of job they will offer him, “Vreme” learns.

This situation means that Božić can no longer do editorial work or any work from the director’s domain, and he is practically forbidden to do anything at N1, except what the new management asks of him.

He was not specifically prohibited from coming to work, but was “recommended” to work from home.

New N1 Director Brent Sadler Sadler will come to N1 every day until this situation is resolved.

Change in APR

Let’s remind, former journalist of CNN from Britain Brent Sadler has been formally registered as director of N1 television since this week, but also co-director of Nova.rs and Danas portals.

With him, Wouter van Houwelingen from the Netherlands, who is the senior corporate representative of Adria News Network, was appointed as a director in N1.

This company was founded on February 19 – in the long process of changing management structures in the companies that own N1, Nova, Radar and Danas.

Media associations warned of this scenario

Let us remind you that two days ago, journalists and media associations warned of this scenario, when they informed the domestic and international public about the attempt to completely take over the independent media in Serbia.

“The decision to dismiss N1 director Igor Božić, made by Brent Sadler, is a serious signal that the authorities, in coordination with the new ownership structures, have entered the final phase of establishing control over one of the last remaining pillars of independent information in Serbia. This move cannot be seen as an isolated personnel change, but as the beginning of a wider process of changes, pressures and restructuring within the newsrooms within the Adria News Network,” said the announcement of these associations and organizations.

This change was announced last year, when OCCRP published a recording of a conversation between Telekom director Vladimir Lucic and United Group director Sten Miller about a strategy to reduce the influence of media that report critically on the regime of Aleksandar Vucic.

N1 announced that until the decision of the board of Adria News Network (ANN) on its status, it will not manage the newsroom.

It added that his exact position will be defined in the next few days.

Adria News Network did not publicly explain the decision to dismiss Igor Božić.
