Vucic attacks N1 and Nova yet again: What they’re doing is terrorism

Speaking from Seville, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic once again targeted independent media outlets N1 and Nova S, accusing them of “terrorism.”

Vucic continued targeting independent media, making extremely dangerous accusations against the N1 as well as Nova news desks.

“What Nova S and N1 are doing is pure terrorism and we are waiting to see what the prosecutor’s office will say – we are still waiting. Believe me, I would have given anything to stay in Belgrade yesterday and just rest for half a day, but I couldn’t. I’m returning and I enjoy restoring order in Serbia, and I have no one to run from. I have never been afraid of cowards, not those from Nova S and N1 – because many people run from them and no one confront them – nor hooligans or anyone else,” the Serbian president said.

Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (IJAS) president Zeljko Bodrozic said the president is using these messages to incite his yes-man in the prosecutor’s office (Nenad Stefanovic, the Chief Prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, author’s note) to “storm into (our) newsrooms with a squad of gendarmes and shut us down.”

“I think that can be expected given his tone and the increasing madness he is displaying. You have to choose your words carefully to describe this kind of performance by a head of state. So you have all the power, all the institutions are yours. They’ve set up so many N1 and Nova S copycat channels over the past year or two. I don’t see how he doesn’t realize that people are flocking to N1 and Nova S because even that inflated number of TV stations can no longer hide the truth, and people have realized that the real situation on the ground can only be seen on these two television stations. And that the lies and propaganda now broadcast on all other channels no longer produce results,” Bodrozic explained.
