The N1 newsroom has received a barrage of vile and brutal threats in recent days.
Once again, our team has come under attack from authorities. The latest attack came straight from the top, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, speaking from Seville, labeling the work of media outlets N1 and Nova as “terrorism.”
This is not just baseless and dangerous slander, it is a signal that there may be a darker intent at play – an attempt to silence N1 for good.
The president used his second address to Serbian media from Spain as another opportunity to settle scores with N1.
Meanwhile, the comment sections of our website have been flooded with extremely serious threats and insults. These are some of them:
– You should all be killed, you f*** fascists.
– Sooner of later, you’ll hang sooner at Terazije
– N1, you’ll pay for this indirect call to civil war. Trust me, sooner or later. Then we’ll be laughing at you like you’re laughing at Serbia’s naive people.
– Line them all up and shoot them, damn Serbia-haters.
– Ustasha N1, you should be banned, you’re poisoning the people. Police, crush these vermin, you have the people’s full support. Long live Vucic.
– You’ll soon be burned to the ground.
These kinds of comments and threats have become a daily reality for our newsroom.
We recall that in mid-March, a group of people, mostly from Aleksandar Vulin’s Movement of Socialists, gathered outside our offices, preventing employees from entering their workplace.
People turn to N1 and Nova because they know it is the only way to get the unfiltered truth about what is happening on the ground. Everything else is just distortion and an attempt to obscure reality.
