Summary of the project:

The general theme of the project is the contribution to media literacy in Serbia through individual topics 1) raising standards and awarding recognition for the greatest contributions in journalism and media and 2) developing competencies for the application of tools based on artificial intelligence. IJAS will award two (already traditional) “Dragan Janjić” awards for academic works and research on the topic of media literacy and thereby promote and support the importance of media literacy for professionals and the general public. The development of media literacy among journalists will be supported by IJAS by developing their competencies for the application of tools based on artificial intelligence (AI) by conducting basic and advanced training for the same group of 12 participants (of which 6 outside Belgrade) on the topic of ethical application of AI in newsrooms and by creating an online resource center on the topic AI on the IJAS website by publishing the first 10 articles on the ethical use of AI in newsrooms.

 

Project goal:

The general goal of the project is to popularize and raise the level of media and information literacy in Serbia, which is directly in line with measure 5.1. Media strategies: Improved media literacy.

 

Specific goal 1: Popularizing and raising the level of media and information literacy by supporting academic works and research through the awarding of the already traditional annual prize “Dragan Janjić” for academic works and research in the field of media and information literacy (the prize is awarded to students and professionals in honor of the deceased journalist, the founder of the news agency Beta and IJAS).

 

Specific objective 2: Development of media literacy among journalists by developing their competencies for the application of tools based on artificial intelligence (AI) by conducting basic and advanced training for the same group of 12 participants (of which 6 outside Belgrade) on the topic of ethical application of AI in newsrooms and creating an online resource center on the subject of AI on the IJAS website by publishing the first 10 articles on the ethical use of AI in newsrooms. This goal is in direct accordance with measure 5.2. Media strategies: Improved digital media competencies of journalists, media workers and public administration employees.
