Lawyer Aleksandar Olenik said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is operating through the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) and Nenad Stefanovic, deputy chief prosecutor, in an attempt to destroy the work of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (TOK), in connection with the case of the controversial conversation between United Group CEO Stan Miller and Vladimir Lucic, general manager of Telekom Srbija telecommunication company.
Olenik reacted to the fact that two cases are being conducted regarding the case of Stan Miller and Vladimir Lucic – one before TOK, which is examining what is heard on the recording. On the other hand, VJT is pressuring the Krik journalists to provide them with the original recording of the conversation, stating that the recording published by the investigative media is edited.
“Akandaran Vucic’s attempt to take over and destroy the TOK case through VJP and Stefanovic, which revealed a corrupt plan to shut down N1 and Nova,” Olenik said in response to these events.
“He cannot go to the elections with objective media, so he continues with the plan from the conversation between Lucic and Miller. TOK cannot be shut down because of the EU, there is only VJT that remains,” he added.
The investigative network OCCRP published a recording of a conversation between Miller and Lucic in which they discuss the dismissal of United Media director Aleksandra Subotic and the closure of media outlets within UM, as well as the fact that this was a request from President Aleksandar Vucic.
At the same time, pressure on TOK continues due to the General Staff complex construction works and the canopy collapse case, while the European Commission says that they are monitoring the development of the judicial situation in Serbia, and any possible change in the organization of the prosecution should strengthen it.
