Journalist and editor Vojislav Stevanovic is returning to N1, where he will take on the role of deputy news director.
Stevanovic was part of the original team that launched and developed N1 from its inception. During his ten-year tenure at the station, he held various positions, including reporter, show host, and executive producer. His return marks a significant addition to N1. Working alongside News Director Branislav Sovljanski and the station’s editors and journalists, he will focus on the further development of N1’s news programing. The goal remains to provide timely and accurate reporting, highlight issues of public interest, and maintain resilience against spin, propaganda, and political pressure.
“Vojislav’s experience and deep understanding of N1 are invaluable to our newsroom. I am delighted that he accepted our invitation to return so we can together continue building a television station that has had a clear mission from day one: to be a reliable source of information and a media outlet that the public trusts. In an era of significant pressure and professional challenges, it is vital to have people who understand the importance of professional journalism and the standards that N1 defends on a daily basis,” said N1 News Director Branislav Sovljanski.
Stevanovic expressed his excitement about returning to the media house whose professional identity he helped shape for years. “I was involved in the creation of this newsroom from the very beginning. N1 has evolved over time, but it has maintained its core editorial mission: providing citizens with accurate and timely information. This is why I decided to return and contribute to its ongoing growth,” Stevanovic said.
Throughout his career, Stevanovic has held key positions at the Ekonomist magazine and covered economic issues for the Danas daily. He served as the bureau chief for Radio Free Europe and as an editor at Insajder TV. A significant part of his career has been dedicated to mentoring and training young journalists. He is an active member of the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) and is involved in projects focused on media literacy and bridging professional and citizen journalism.
